Long story short, someone I've never met needs help. One of my fellow writers over on Absolute Write lives in Tennessee, in one of the towns hit by the other night's storms. She needs to get home to her mom's house on the east coast, and has no car. She can't fly or take a bus because she has two cats.

Thus, the railroad system. Jason will drive from near Atlanta to western TN and pick her up. They'll arrive at my house sometime after midnight Friday. The next morning, Jason heads back home, and I'll drive Laurel to PA and drop her off with Sarah, who will take her on the next leg of the journey. A few drivers and a couple of hundred miles later, she and her furbabies will be safe once more.

My husband asked me why.
